Probably late C18, built after the reclamation of Cleifiog sands in 1776, and forming part of one of the mail roads to Holyhead before the construction of the Stanley Embankment in 1822.
Long embankment of rubble masonry with battered sides and a simple semi-circular arched culvert in centre, widened on east side. Roughly coped rubble parapet walls flanking road carriage.
Included as an example of a substantially intact C18 embankment, of historic importance as forming part of the mail road to Holyhead.
