History

This building most probably dates from the refurbishment of Wern Farm in c1830-40 following its purchase by the Pontypool Park estate during the ownership of Capel Hanbury Leigh.

Exterior

Whitewashed rubble stone with stone slate roof with ridge tiles. Three sties in line with small enclosed yards, and attached shed. Four doorways and otherwise no openings. A complete example of an early/mid C19 pigsty.

Interior

Interiors not inspected at the time of resurvey (December 1996).

Reasons for Listing

Included as a good example of an estate farm pigsty and for its significant group value with Wern Farmhouse.
