Monolithic vernacular arch built c.1820 by Sir Robert Williames Vaughan of Nannau, Bart. as an estate feature, apparently to relieve unemployment.
Large rubble-built arch with irregular, flat slate-stone lintel (apparently carried from Harlech). Sloped buttressing to all save the inner sides of the supporting piers with plain string courses in 3 tiers, returned around the sides. Rubble finial to NW side, its complementary one missing.
An unusual and eccentric early C19 folly in a commanding position. One of a series of picturesque Nannau estate structures.
