Built 1825 to collect tolls at the junction of the Montgomeryshire and Ellesmere Canals (Carreghofa section opened 1797); hut restored 1986.
Square single-storey brick structure with long hipped slate roof incorporating canopy with timber supports facing the canal. Brick stack to rear over lower gabled extension. Wide three-light small pane window under segmental arch facing canal, plank side door with second door to rear.
Group value with other canal structure in exceptional location at Carreghofa Locks.
