History

Road bridge carrying A487 over the river Gwaun. Built in 1875 to replace the old bridge of 4 arches shown in R Colt Hoare drawing of 1802. The new bridge is presumably by Thomas George, the County Surveyor.

Exterior

Road bridge of squared rubble stone with single broad segmental arch. Rock-faced grey limestone voussoirs to arch, and green Preseli stone band above under parapet, which has similar rock-faced coping stones. 1875 datestone on parapet. Raised pier at each end and plain stone abutments.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an elegant single-arched bridge of broad span, of group value with other buildings in Bridge Street.
