c1863.
Long rubble stone retaining wall sloping upwards from beach to the cliff behind. Rubble stone in large roughly dressed blocks with raking parapet wall of similar material. Behind is the sloping slipway onto which ships were hauled by the patent slip mechanism installed 1863 and dismantled 1901. In 4 cavities on front wall are 4 massive iron rings with attached chains.
The slip was used principally for repairing or lengthening ships and was equipped with a cradle on iron rails.
Listed as a prominent enclosing feature to S end of harbour beach, and of historical interest as part of the shipbuilding history of New Quay.
