History

Early and mid C19. The principal inn of New Quay, marked on 1847 Tithe map as on land owned by C R Longcroft of Llanina and occupied by John Patrick. The present rear range may represent the pre-1847 inn, with front part added c1850.

Exterior

Inn, stucco with slate roofs. Tall mid C19 three-storey three-window front range with eaves roof and renewed red brick end stacks. 12-pane sashes with cambered heads and slate sills, centre first floor window has long casement pair, replacing sash. Ground floor centre has double doors with plain overlight in C20 glazed timber porch. Similar one-window range each end. Rear left side-wall stack. Rear right has parallel wing with projecting gable at street end. Probably earlier low two-storey rear wing on street-line with C20 12-pane sashes; one ground floor window then three-window range with centre ledged door. Two stone stacks. Lean-to on end wall.
