Description

Dated 1862. Single-storey, symmetrical row of farm cottages,
with pavilioned outbuildings. Squared and snecked rubble with
droved ashlar dressings and harled end gables. Stone
mullions.
N ELEVATION: round arched pend at centre, flanked by windows;
gabled porches advanced from flanking bays with bipartites to
N and doorways to pend side. Windows flanking again and
further gabled porches to penultimate bays, detailed as above
but with doorways on outer sides.
S ELEVATION: coped, shouldered wallhead stack above round
arched pend at centre, with dated panel; single windows
flanking, with 2 bipartites to each side and single windows
in outer bays. Gabled dormers added in later 19th century.
Gabled outbuildings to NE and NW with doorways on court side,
linked to cottages by curtain wall, later backed by
flat-roofed outbuildings.
4-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows; grey slates,
with timber eaves brackets to porches, formerly all with
finials. Ridge and gable end stacks.

Statement of Interest

Listed category B as complete group of specially designed

farm cottages. Steading lies to S, listed separately.
