Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey rectangular-plan Italianate villa. Coursed sandstone ashlar with polished sandstone ashlar dressings. Base course; string course between ground and 1st floors; lugged architraves to openings; rusticated strip quoins; bargeboards to gables.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3-bay, outer bays gabled and advanced; window (large at ground) to both floors of recessed central bay; 6-panel timber door to ground of bay at left, surmounted by keystoned cornice and consoled broken pediment; window to 1st floor above; bipartite window to advanced, corniced, single storey bay at right, surmounted by coped parapet flanked by pair of corniced, ball-finialled pedestals; window to 1st floor, with square plaque to gable above.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: double-gabled, with 2 single windows to left of upper floor; window to right and timber door to left of coped single storey wall fronting piend-roofed single storey extension at left.

3- and 6-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; low coped stacks to side and rear, some with cylindrical cans; cast-iron rainwater goods.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped boundary wall to street, with single gatepier at left.

Large distinctive villa standing out from its plainer neighbours by virtue of details such as bargeboarded gables and rusticated strip quoins.
