Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 2-bay mirrored pair of houses forming part of terrace. Coursed, squared sandstone. Base course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course; strip quoin to right only. Painted margins to openings.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2 timber doors at centre; letterbox fanlights; flanking single windows at ground; regular fenestration at 1st floor.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; stone skews; rooflights; coped stacks; polygonal and circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Nos 1-29 (Inclusive Nos, no No 13) and 30, 32 and 54 Fullarton Street) form B Group. Coped boundary wall (to both) with railings (No 24 only) enclose site. The N side of Barns Street formed Ayr's first regular terrace development (Dodd, p358).
