Earlier 19th century. Single storey and attic, 3-bay house with stone wallhead gabled dormer and rounded slate-hung dormer windows. Dark whinstone rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings.
SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Panelled timber door with small-pane fanlight to centre and windows in flanking bays, dominant stone gabled dormer to centre with decorative stone finial and rounded dormer windows over flanking bays.
12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with thackstanes and cans, and ashlar-coped skews.
INTERIOR: plain cornices; steep winding stair with decorative cast-iron balusters, timber handrail and dado rail; coloured patterned glass to interior door.
Rounded dormer windows and wallhead gabled dormers are a distinctive local feature, but few unaltered examples remain. One such, at 25-27 Viewforth, has a nepus gable; and another, at Deeside, Links Road, is listed separately.
