James and Alexander Leslie. 1880. Z plan dam. Predominantly squared and snecked, bull faced pink sandstone, sandstone rubble with stugged semi circular coping to slightly battered retaining wall. Polished sandstone corniced upstand shaft with cast iron railings; pedimented opening to channel emerging from base of embankment. Curved overflow to W of dam with stepped down channel crossed by plate girder bridge.
Rosebery Reservoir, like Edgelaw Reservoir (see separate listing, Carrington Parish), was built as a subsidiary reservoir to Gladhouse Reservoir (see separate listing). The Rosebery, Edgelaw and Gladhouse Reservoirs are fine examples of extremely advanced engineering on a large scale. The masonry work is high quality and survives in excellent condition.
