Later 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey 3-bay symmetrical rectangular-plan Italianate house with later flat-roofed porch to E side and single storey addition to rear. Tooled pink ashlar sandstone with polished dressings. Base course; bracketed decorative cast-iron balconies to 1st floor windows; cill course to 1st floor; eaves course beneath deep bracketed eaves. Plain mullioned windows at ground with raised cills; columnar mullions to triple and bipartite round-arched windows at 1st floor. Square-plan piend roofed garage with modern door to rear.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3-bay with single bay porch set back to outer left. Cavetto moulded doorpiece with deep bracketed cornice above; 2-leaf timber panelled door with rectangular fanlight; bipartite window at 1st floor above. Bipartite window at ground with 3-light window at 1st floor in bays flanking. Modern timber panelled door with window flanking to porch.
E (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay with tall window to centre of advanced porch in bay to right of centre. Window at ground in bay to left. Wallhead stack above.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: single bay addition to rear of main block with bipartite at each floor and wallhead stack set to centre above; single storey, 5-bay, L-plan projection to rear with modern door in bay to angle and window in each remaining bay.
S (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay with single storey, piend roofed block spanning bay to centre and to right with window to each bay; window in each bay at 1st floor above. L-plan projection at ground in bay to left; window at 1st floor above.
2-pane timber sash and case windows (6-, 4- and 12-pane windows to rear and sides) with modern window to L-plan addition. Grey slate piended roof; slate to additions; modern felt covering to garage and to porch; ashlar coped stacks to E and W wallheads; cast-iron rainwater goods with some uPVC replacements to rear.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: 2 pairs of square-plan gatepiers with rounded angles and channelled faces; string course, cornice and shallow pyramidal cap. Piers to 13A (E) painted. Squared and stugged sandstone wall with ridged ashlar cope.
The house retains some fine Italianate detailing, most notably in the Venetian style arcaded windows and deep overhanging eaves.
