Statement of Interest

Thoms describes the area of Brechin's chanonry as 'an ellipse stretching along the south side of Church Street from the old West Port to the pend called Bishops Close'. No 1 Chanonry Wynd was the site of the Dean's manse. The initials on the marriage lintel are those of James Shiress and Jean Wishart, the lintel almost certainly having been moved from the neighbouring former door on the 2-storey bays.
