Description

Circa 1865. 2-storey 4-bay semidetached pair with single storey entrance porches. Painted harl with droved ashlar dressings. Base course; quoin strips; timber mullions.

SE (MAVIS BANK) ELEVATION: nearly mirrored elevation. Single storey porch addition to centre with tripartite window, boarded door to each return elevation. Monopitch addition adjoined to outer right corner (in front of bay to right of centre). Bipartite window to each floor of inner bays, breaking eaves at 1st floor in gabled dormerhead. Window at ground to outer bays. Single storey entrance porches set back slightly and with modern glazed porch to Beech Villa to align with SE elevation of main block; later lean-to addition to Belmont aligns with main block with boarded door flanked by windows.

NW ELEVATION: canted and half-piended windows at ground of bays to centre with gabled bipartite windows at 1st floor above, breaking eaves. Boarded door with shouldered plate glass fanlight above to each intermediate bay, in shouldered doorpiece; gabled canopy above each. Bipartite windows in single storey porch bays, set back.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Bipartite windows with stop-chamfered timber mullions. Slate roof with exposed rafters at eaves and gabled bipartite dormer to outer bays, NW elevation. Coped ashlar mutual stack; and to outer bay of Belmont.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.

The suggested date of circa 1865 was given by the present owner of Beech Villa. The NW elevation is the formal, principal elevation.
