Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 4-bay, asymmetrical, solid L-plan, gabled villa. Sandstone and whinstone with bull-faced rusticated margins and dressings. Base course; quoins; projecting eaves, exposed rafters.
SW ELEVATION: 3-bay block with recessed gabled bay to right with modern conservatory in re-entrant angle. Gable to outer left, 2 windows at ground, canted oriel on deep moulded corbelling, fishscale slate roof; round-headed window to right; gable to right, broad canted window, single window above, blind arrowslit in gablehead. Gable recessed to right, ground floor now masked by modern canted conservatory; round- arched door at ground, roll-moulding, window above.
SE ELEVATION: gable to outer right, full-height canted bay; tripartite window to left.
NW ELEVATION: block to outer right, window at 1st floor at centre, gable breaking eaves at centre, window to outer left at ground. 2-bay block to left, windows symmetrically disposed, gable breaking over 1st floor window to outer left.
4-pane timber sash and case windows. Purple slate roof, lead flashings, coped ridge stacks, octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
BOUNDARY WALL, GATES AND GATEPIERS: whinstone wall with harl-pointing, rubble semicircular coping. Rusticated piers with pyramidal caps. 2-leaf scrolled wrought-iron gates with integral overthrown and house name.
Lancross is shown on the 1st edition map as Acre Cottage this was subsequently changed to Belmont and more recently to Lancross.
