Mid 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan cottage villa. Painted harl with painted stone margins and dressings. Eaves band, cornice and blocking course, channelled quoins.
S ELEVATION: 3 symmetrical bays. Pilastered and corniced, block-pedimented door at centre, narrow door, plate glass fanlight. Flanking, gently-canted, corniced windows with segmental-arched lintels. 2, canted, gabled dormers symmetrically disposed; modern velux rooflight at centre.
4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof, lead flashings, ashlar coping to skews, painted coped apex stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: whinstone rubble wall with harl pointing, rubble coping. Ashlar gatepier (that to left missing), stop-chamfered arrises, corniced, pyramidal cap.
The house is shown on the 1st edition map. A United Presbyterian Church is shown on the same feu on this map edition which relates to the timber church constructed in 1858, now gone.
