Later 19th century. 2-storey 3-bay classical bank and bank manager's house. Grey sandstone ashlar frontage, squared and coursed at side and rear; base course, rusticated quoins and eaves cornice.
S ELEVATION: doorway at centre with architraved surround and ornately carved consoled pediment; 2-leaf panelled doors. Tripartite architraved windows in flanking bays at ground with semi-circular pediments breaking cornice above centre light. Decorative cill brackets to lugged archtiraves of 1st floor windows, single window at centre, bipartite in outer bays. Slate hung flat-roofed dormer addition.
W ELEVATION: bipartite window at ground to left and 2 1st floor windows widely spaced.
E ELEVATION: abutted by East Lothian Co-operative building.
Plate glass glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Overhanging eaves to piend roofs; grey slates. Corniced end stacks. Decorative gutterhead retained.
Classical details echo those used by Robert Matheson, in the terraces of Grovesnor Street, Edinburgh, 1865.
