Description

Earlier 19th century front; early 18th century rear wing; later alterations. 3-storey, 3-bay shop and tenement. Ashlar; base course; raised cills; moulded cornice and blocking course. Rear wing painted harl; painted margins.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: shop front and pend at ground; shop door; flanking windows. Regular fenestration at upper floors.

E ELEVATION: single window in right bay at 2nd floor.

S ELEVATION: 2-storey wing; 3 windows to S.

W ELEVATION: 2-storey wing; door with forestair in left bay; small window square in proportion at ground; large window adjacent.

12-pane timber sash and case timber windows; modern glazing to shop front. Straight stone skews; short coped stacks at gableheads.

INTERIOR: not seen 2000.

Statement of Interest

It is probable that the rear wing was once an E facing cottage forming part of a row that would have included 14 West Terrace, 4 Mid Terrace, 17 East Terrace and 15 East Terrace.
