D N Shaw, 1889-9. 2-storey and attic Classical bank building on prominent corner site with 3-bay splayed corner. 3 wide bays to E (South Methven Street) x 2 bays to High Street. Ashlar, rubble to rear. Base course, cill courses, cornice to ground, eaves cornice, blocking course. Part-fluted, Ionic pilasters to ground with swags at volutes; Doric pilasters to 1st storey. Pedimented bipartite dormers.
FURTHER DESCRIPTION: Ionic pilastered doorpiece to corner with open pediment above and sculptured spandrels with face motif; round-arched doorway with 2-leaf panelled timber entrance door. Decorative armorial panel above. 3-light windows to E to ground with round-arched central openings and carved foliage pattern in spandrels. 4-light windows with stone mullions to 1st storey.

Predominantly 2- vertical pane over plate glass timber sash and case windows to upper storey, plate glass to ground. Mansard roof; raised skews. Grey slates. Coped, wallhead stack to S with round-arched opening at base.
INTERIOR: (seen 2009). Modernised offices to ground floor. Rooms to upper floor with some simple cornicing.
This former Town and Country Bank building by a local Perthshire architect sits on a prominent corner site in Perth City centre and adds significantly to the streetscape. Perth has a number of high quality corner buildings such as this, dating from the end of the 19th century when the city enjoyed a period of wealth and prosperity.
South Methven Street was laid out in 1791, following the line of the medieval West wall of Perth Burgh. This building was originally erected for the Town and Country Bank and is currently offices (2009).
