Description

T G Abercrombie, architect, 1897. Scots renaissance.
3-storey with dormer heads, 3-bay. Stugged ashlar with
polished dressings. Base course. Full height circular
entrance tower at centre, architraved door surround with
lugged moulding linked to ground floor cill course to
carved cartouche above. 3 windows to 1st floor of tower
with moulded reveals and 3 to 2nd floor with moulded cill
course and pilasters. Simple eaves cornice and conical
slate roof. Side bays with 2-pane sashes each floor in
moulded reveals. 2nd floor windows raised through eaves
with pedimented gablets. Rear block projecting slightly
at both sides, with variety of glazing asymmetrically
placed.
Wide eaves. Double hipped roof with straight skews and
corniced stacks. Panelled ashlar gatepiers probably from
earlier house on site with domical caps.
