1897, Neo-Jacobean hexagonal drinking fountain of red
polished granite. Stepped base with two troughs fed by lions
head spouts; above this, hexagonal plinth supporting 6
polished granite miniature Roman Doric columns encircling
trough fed by further lions head spouts mounted on central
column. Frieze and parapet with strapwork detail and dates
1837-97; ornate wrought-iron lamp stand; gas lamp and bracket
removed.
Erected to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria,
1837-97.
