Description

Late 19th century. Cast-iron lamp standard. Fluted base and shaft, decorative foliate mouldings and capital, ladderposts, plain lantern (some glass missing).

See also Provosts' lamps listed separately at 10 Hill Street and

5 Panmurefield Road. One of four lamps bought by Monifieth Burgh from the Majestic Cinema (formerly Her Majesty's Theatre), Seagate, Dundee, after a fire during the Second World War. This lamp formed one of a pair, the second of which was damaged and scrapped.
