The lamps originate from the Queen's Hotel, Nethergate, Dundee (John Young and Andrew Meldrum, 1878), and were later erected at the Majestic Cinema (formerly Her Majesty's Theatre), Seagate. They were bought by Monifieth Burgh with a further pair (one listed at 50 Hill Street, the other destroyed) following a fire at the cinema during the Second World War.
