Description

James Matthews, 1868. 3-storey, gabled T-plan bank and
banker's house. Harled, tooled and polished ashlar margins
and dressings. 2-bay gable wing projects to Shore Street with
paired windows in ground and 1st floor and single centre
gable attic window. Single storey, narrow 3-bay wing at W
incorporating bank entrance, the bays delineated by slender
engaged columns rising above wallhead to terminate as ball
finials.
Corbelled bartizan at NE angle. Mainly 2-pane glazing. Coped
end stacks; slate roofs; crowstepped gables.
Rear rubble walled garden flanked by Institution and Church
Street.
Single storey outbuilding backs onto Church Street; harled;
single margined end stack; slate roof.
