Description

Dated 1900. Dutch Renaissance symmetrical 3-storey and

attic 2-bay bank with 2-storey flanking wings. Polished

red sandstone ashlar with modern granite, glass and mosaic

ground floor. Original continuous fascia and cornice over

ground floor. 1st floor windows are canted with 9-pane

upper sashes, and pilastered jambs, cornice and balustrade. Semi-circular 2nd floor windows with moulded arches spring

from pilasters and have decorative glazing. Shaped gable

with scrolls, pilaster strips, pinnacles in form of

obelisks, sedant lions and capping segmental pediment and

finial. Central attic aedicular bipartite above decorative

datestone and corbel table forming cill band. End stacks

and slate roof. Single bay left and 2-bay right wings have

canted windows identical to those on 1st floor of main block

with parapet above, balustraded over windows; flat roofs.
