Description

Probably 1830/40. 2-storey house at N corner High
Street/approach to Townhead Bridge, built on slope of river
bank, with basement to rear (W); 3-bay long elevations,
additional windowed bays in curved (S) corners to bridge
approach. Built of green whinstone rubble with contrasting
ashlar dressings; (E) openings to High Street architraved,
central panelled door with fanlight in corniced doorpiece;
corniced square projection to W (2 storeys, door at basement
level) and all openings with long and short worked dressings.
Sash windows throughout, mostly with 12-pane glazing pattern.
Eaves course; end stacks rebuilt in brick; slated roof,
piended at S and run square over curved corners.
