Early 19th century. 3-storey 6-bay corner tenement with corner feature and with tea room, on ground falling no N; wynd to immediate N. Stugged cream ashlar; base course; cill course to 1st and 2nd floors. NW (CASTLEGATE) ELEVATION: 2 centre bays at ground with plain ashlar margins; panelled door to left with 3-pane fanlight; modern door to right with letterbox fanlight. Single windows to left, slightly larger single shop windows in bays to right. Upper floors with windows to all bays, blind to outer right bay. Recessed curved corner bay with windows to upper floors to outer right.
SW (ABBEY CLOSE) ELEVATION: 3-storey 2-bay, finely dressed squared sandstone. Shop windows at ground detailed as above, modern door between. Left bay of upper floors with windows blinded.
NE ELEVATION: irregular rubble facade advancing slightly in steps to left. Later entrance created at ground to 24A.
12-pane timber sash and case windows; fixed 9-pane to tea room. Piended roof; grey slates; coped ashlar stack.
