C.1820. Plain Georgian. J Gillespie-Graham. 2 storeys.
Coursed rubble, partly harled; piended slate roof.
Projecting pavilions on 2 sides. Moulded eaves course.
Iron bars at windows. Interior altered 1841: 2-3 cells
(barrel-vaulted) opening off central corridor on both
floors.
Prison for debtors as well as criminals. Became
prison for females when new Jail was built. Legalised
1848. Improved 1871. Now disused.
