St Mary's Church Haddington, the Lauderdale Aisle.

Uploader's Comments

This aisle was originally the medieval vestry then in 1675 the present monument was built by the 2nd Earl of Lauderdale. It is the double tomb of John, 1st Lord Maitland, died 1595 and his son John, 1st Earl of Lauderdale and both wives. Although this monument was built by the 2nd Earl and he was buried in this church in 1682, no tomb exists to him.
