Description

A B McDonald, Office of Public Works, 1905. 2-storey rectangular-plan block, white-harled with contrasting rendered banding at 1st floor impost level and deep band at eaves; piended red-tile roof; small-paned glazing. Many openings are set in 2-storey tall, shallow-arched panels; recessed strips at angles, like clasping pilasters. To river, end bays with timber-framing in gable-heads, deep cantilevered balconies at 1st floor. 2-bay flanks; ends on north elevation also emphasised, smaller openings (circular at ground) on main wall area between.

Statement of Interest

A rare building type in Scotland, this is by far the largest. Built as Corporation Clubhouse for the Clydesdale A R C.
