Description

Circa 1880 symmetrical 2-storey 3-bay villa, with some alteration early 20th century. East-facing, and on corner plot, all openings on main elevation with stilted flat arches, window jambs, mullions of canted ground floor windows and columns of doorcase all with foliated capitals. Stugged ashlar coursers, polished dressings, plate glass sash windows, slate roof with decorative eaves brackets, end stacks. On south flank, a shallow 2-storey canted window and 3 small windows, all small-paned and all additions. Low service court at rear.

GATEPIERS at street corner are contemporary with house, and are a version of a design seen eg in Pollokshields (as, indeed, is the house - of Matilda Road), but the walls are rough-hewn rubble with recessed pointing, and more likely date from when the house was altered; likewise, the wrought-iron gates.
