Lanarkshire County Architect (William Watt), designed 1950. Crematorium symmetrical ashlar-built compostion, wide domed centre with flue, wide entrance-vestibule at front (N), pair piended (slated) chapels flanking in Butterfly-plan lay-out and with round-arched windows, porch on each outer end wall. Loggias to S and steps to garden; detached pair shelters (East and West Waiting Rooms) at driveway probably not original.
Built as the Lanarkshire Crematorium- within easy reach of all major centres of population. Foundation stone laid 26 September 1952 by John Mann Esq CBE, JP.
