Early 19th century cast-iron Toll gate pier with explanatory
plaque gifted by Old Glasgow Club, 1934.
This post was part of the old toll gatehouse known as
Parkhouse toll which operated the Turnpike Roads Glasgow to
Greenock via Govan and to Paisley, from 1780 to 1883 when
tolls were abolished. Removed from its original position at
the junction of Govan Road and Paisley Road, February 1988.
