Robert Thomson (with Andrew Wilson assisting), 1894-96. Free style, commercial building of 7 storeys. Red sandstone ashlar, elevator building, narrow gable frontage to Buchanan Street. Brick rear. Modern ground floor.
Buchanan Street elevation: broad, canted 5-light window rising through 1st to 3rd floors in each bay, set in recess, the latter semi-elliptically arched over 4th floor 5-light window, with carved angels to spandrels. Figures under canopies on outer piers at 4th floor; serpentine balcony to 5th floor window. Heavily consoled semi-circular canopy over gable window; stepped gable with elaborate scrolls, pendants and finials.
S side to Springfield Court: 5 narrower bays, each treated similarly to centre bay to Buchanan Street, with only outer W bay gabled; paired arched windows in 7th floor to remaining bays, with parapet and wallhead stack.
Plate-glass glazing to sash and case windows.
Built as offices of the North British Rubber Co.
