Description

James Thomson, 1873-5. Nave-and-aisles gothic church
with spire, halls built 1879. On corner site, 4-stage
buttressed and pinnacled tower at corner, slightly
splay-footed octagonal stone spire rises above parapet;
gabled front to Queen's Drive, gabled shallow central
porch, large traceried window over; buttressed tall side
aisle to Albert Drive also with traceried openings.
Galleried interior, 2 tiers cast-iron columns supporting
barrel-vaulted roof.
HALL (fronting Queen's Drive) is asymmetrical, 2 gables
to front, with pointed openings on 2 levels, canted
ground floor window right. Stugged and snecked ashlar,
polished dressings, slate roof. Iron railings to street.
Leaded window by Daniel Cottier. Pulpit and reredos
both 1947.
