Description

MacKissack and Rowan, 1886. Romanesque church on corner
site, with hall adjoining. Stone-cleaned yellow ashlar;
slate roofs.
CHURCH has gabled entrance front to Queen's Drive,
doorway with chevron moulding, paired gallery level
windows in arched panel, flanking square turrets carried
upwards, each with open belfry stage and stone pyramidal
spirelet; flank to Niddrie Road has 4 gables with heavy
stepped buttresses derived, probably, from those at
Dunfermline Abbey; HALL has similar buttresses, gabled
front to Queen's Drive. Nave arcades with scalloped
capitals.
