Description

Andrew Balfour, 1904-6 (1905 datestone). Edwardian
baroque. 2-storey school, long rectangular plan with
pyramidal roofs over 4 end pavilions; symmetrical street
elevation has 3-window outer pavilions with giant
pilasters, handsome lettered panel between, set between
floors; balustraded projecting flank bays contain
entrances and stairs. Sash windows with horizontal
glazing pattern. Red ashlar; blocked deep eaves,
finialed green slate roofs. Free-standing parallel
low REAR RANGE, 2-storey gabled JANITORS HOUSE at NE,
arched door in porch on S flank. PLAYGROUND WALLS also
ashlar, corniced square, GATEPIERS, decorative wrought-
iron gates and railings.
