Probably Edward Calvert, circa 1880. 5-storey and basement with 5th storey as mansard attic, 5-bay tenement with baronial details, forming part of terrace. Squared and snecked pink sandstone with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. String course at 1st floor; corbel table at 4th floor stepped down to 3rd floor and machicolated between 3rd and 4th bays; string course at 4th floor; crowstepped gables; stop-chamfered reveals. N ENTRANCE elevation: basket-arched roll-moulded doorways with recessed polished granite colonnettes and foliate capitals in 2nd and 4th bays; deep-set panelled doors; plate glass fanlights. Single windows above in 2nd bay; curvilinear dormerhead at 4th floor. Doorway in 4th bay flanked to left by simpler roll-moulded doorway with panelled door and plate glass fanlight; bipartite windows above; pedimented dormerhead at 4th floor. Bipartite windows in 3rd(centre) bay; hoodmoulding at ground; pedimented dormerhead at 4th floor. Advanced gabled bays to outer left and right with bipartite windows and single lights to returns in bays to outer left and right; decorative dividing band courses above ground floor; dividing string courses; cornice above 3rd floor; tripartite windows at 4th floor; decorative paterae set in gableheads. Ciphered panel set at 4th floor between 3rd and 4th bays. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; coped wallhead stack, partly rendered; coped mutual stacks; stone finials; scroll-bracketted skewputts; mock canon gargoyles. INTERIORS: not seen 1991. RAILINGS: decorative cast-iron railings to basement.
