Description

Robert Burn, planned 1800. 10-bay by 5-bay with bowed 3-bay corner, 3-storey and attic, terraced corner tenement with shops to ground. Sandstone ashlar. Cill band at 1st floor, projecting cills at 2nd, eaves band and blocking course.

SE (UNION PLACE) ELEVATION: modern shop at ground. Regular fenestration above except 4th, 7th and 9th bays from left blinded for symmetry. Above piended dormers, 2 tripartite, to left, common stair door in 7th bay from left with tall 9-pane fanlight.

SW (CORNER BAY) ELEVATION: chamfered at ground with door to modern shopfront; corner round tower in recessed angle above, 3 regular windows to each floor.

NE (UNION STREET) ELEVATION: modern shop at ground. Regular fenestration above, 1st and 4th bays from left blocked. 3 box dormers above.

Timber sash and case, 12-pane glazing, roof lights, grey slates, ridge stacks and terracotta cans. Piended dormers at SE elevation with box dormers at NE.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
