Dunn and Findlay 1894. Large 2-storey early Renaissance
villa, snecked rubble with polished dressings. Western
entrance front 2 gables and central balustraded link
containing entrance bay, good doorpiece with moulded
architrave set in diamond panelled Corinthian pilasters
of Francois Ier inspiration, 3-light window with
sculptured apron panel above. Four-light ground floor and
first floor 3-light windows to left, 2-storey 4-light
canted bay to right, all mullioned and transomed, fluted
frieze cornice and relieving arch over left hand first
floor window, finialled gables. South elevation has
2-window canted ingleneuk feature to left, big central
chimney breast and tall stack. Central bipartites and gable
to right with 2-light windows mullion and transom crosses.
Recessed one window office wing on east with conservatory
at right angles. North elevation has chimney breast to
right, central bipartites in east gable. Door and window
in set back offices. First floor door (to 59) in east
elevation. Green slated roof with red tile crest. Corniced
rubble stacks. Stepped rubble-built wall with coping, 2
tall iron lamp brackets and wooden gates.
