Coursed rubble with droved ashlar dressings; ashlar (painted) to shops; random rubble to sides and rear. Ground floor cornice; projecting cills to windows; cill course at 2nd floor; eaves and blocking courses. Regularly fenestrated; bay to right of centre blind. Ground floor bays from left: shop window and door, door to flats, shop window, door and 2 windows. Original street name tablet, incised script.
Original openings but modern glazing and doors to shops; 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows above and to rear. Grey slates. Corniced cement-rendered ridge stack, flush with rear wall, with circular cans. Stone skew.
B group comprises Nos 1-5 Forrest Road, 1-3 Greyfriars Place, 4-6 Greyfriars Place, 30-34 Candlemaker Row (Greyfriars Bobby's Bar, 36-42 Candlemaker Row (including Candlemaker Hall), 44 Candlemaker Row, 46-48 Candlemaker Row, 50-54 Candlemaker Row, 56 and 56A Candlemaker Row and 58-64 Candlemaker Row. Rear elevations of group form eastern boundary of Greyfriars churchyard, setting for an important group of mural monuments. There was a building on this site (following the curve of Candlemaker Row) from the early 18th century, and although the front of this building has obviously been rebuilt or at least refaced, the rear probably incorporates the earlier building.
