Early 19th century with later addition to rear. Single storey, 3-bay classical rectangular-plan, now T-plan house adjoining No 51. Painted droved ashlar, harled blank side elevation. Base course, cornice and blocking course.
W (REGENT STREET) ELEVATION: flush panelled door to centre; rectangular fanlight above; vermiculated doorpiece; reeded ingoes and lintel. Windows to flanking bays.
E (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen, 1994.
6-pane with plate glass lower timber sash and case windows. Slate roof with rendered gablehead stack.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.
BOUNDARY WALLS: rendered and restyled with curved profile and ball finials to piers.
B-Group with Nos 51 and 53. This building dates from before 1824, and the extension to the rear dates from before Sutter's map of 1856. It is called Mayville. The roof formation of Nos 49 and 51 would seem to imply that this group was intended initially to be terrace. The dressings of the doorpieces at both these houses are particularly unusual.
