Description

Circa 1855. Symmetrical 3-storey and basement 9-bay tenement. Stone cleaned, cream, stugged ashlar sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Regular fenestration. Panelled tenement door and fanlight in centre bay with blind windows to floors above; 3rd and 7th bays with deep-set panelled doors and fanlights. Base course; cill courses; band course above ground floor; cornice and blocking course.

7-bay rubble rear elevation with stair windows at centre and closet windows to inner bays.

4-pane timber sash and case windows, with some plate glass. Grey slates; coped rendered stacks.

RAILINGS AND WALLS: saddleback ashlar base for cast-iron fleur-de-lys railings; continued up ashlar steps. 2m high rubble garden walls divide and protect plots.

B Group with Nos 41-49 (ODD NOS) Madeira Street (see separate listing), which continue the detailing exactly. Forms a setting for North Leith Parish Church (see separate listing). Adjoins the North Leith Baptist Church to the S.
