Description

Early 19th century with later additions and alterations. 2-storey, 3-bay classical house of rectangular-plan, now with extensions to rear. Finely droved ashlar, polished later canted window and dressings; harled side elevations, harled and painted rear elevation. Base course, string course between floors, mutuled and blocking course; slightly advanced bay to centre and broad raised corner pilasters. Chamfered arrises and dividing cornice to canted window.

NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: panelled door to centre with plate glass rectangular fanlight and window at 1st floor above; window to each floor of bay to right. Full-height later canted window in bay to left.

SE (REAR) ELEVATION: 2-storey extension to centre; single storey extension to extreme left linking to boundary with No 15.

Narrow 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; piended roof to canted window and to 2-storey extension to rear. Rendered and coped wallhead stacks to side elevations.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.

BOUNDARY WALLS: squared and snecked rubble with coping; cast-iron railings.

Statement of Interest

The house is called Dunroven House, 1994. Extension to rear bay to centre, was built by 1856.
