Description

Symmetrical 2-storey, 3-bay classically detailed house with basement.

Squared and snecked whinstone rubble, sandstone dressings, raised margins.

W ELEVATION: bays grouped towards centre, centre doorway in slightly advanced pedimented bay. Attached Doric columned corniced doorpiece with delicate radial fanlight. Short flight steps oversailing basement with cast-iron railings; windows to each bay at basement. Taller windows to flanking bays at ground floor. Window to each bay at 1st floor. Moulded cornice and blocking course. Apex die to pediment.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: later additions to rear. Piend roofed stair projection to centre with recess by S return revealing former stair window: regular fenestration.

Projection to SE with French window and flanking window to right at ground floor, bipartite to centre above. Sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing pattern. Grey slates to piend roof; ashlar end stacks with cornice. Wrought and cast-iron decorative railings.

Statement of Interest

Die to pediment at main elevation apparently lacking finial. Fire escape to N elevation. Former Linton Lodge Hotel.
