Description

Circa 1800. Single storey and attic 3-bay cottage with
basement to rear (W); small drybridge to N over Wallace's
Loaning probably near contemporary.
Cottage: whitewashed rubble with contrasting painted ashlar
margins. Central recessed panelled door to E, with fanlight;
small-paned sash windows throughout. Straight skews; end
stacks; roofed with graded slates. 2 dormers to W. and 3 barred
basement windows. Modern addition to N gable. Enclosed by
rubble-built garden walls; 2 rusticated ashlar square gatepiers
at NE.
Bridge: short span single segmental arch (brick arch with
rubble abutments) over cobbled loaning; low ashlar coping
with plain, slender iron railings.

Formerly Castledykes Cottage. Wallace's Loaning also

known as Perochan's Loaning.
