Description

Site of pre-Reformation Chaplainrie of Broughty, abandoned circ 1670; morthouse and wall repaired 1780. Single storey, rectangular plan, rubble-built morthouse, incorporated into SE corner of enclosing wall; door at N, small square window at W, rounded at SE corner, battered S wall, piended slate roof at N, polygonal at S. Rubble wall with rough hewn rounded copings at N, S and E, modern gate at E with step inscribed 'Rebeard 1780'.

Statement of Interest

Restored 1980s. Earliest tombstone dated 1689, others 18th and 19th century; burials ceased in 1869 with the opening of the cemetery at Barnhill (listed separately).
