Description

Style of David Neave circa 1830, remodelled and enlarged

to E and W by C and L Ower 1873 and circa 1890. 2-storey

and basement 3-bay villa, ashlar.

S elevation: centre pilastered and corniced doorpiece

approached by railed steps with decorative cast-iron

lamps. Flanking canted corniced bays added 1873. Main cornice,

blocking course with later raised parapet and central scrolled pedimental feature. Set-back E wing added circa 1860, single

bay with ground floor architraved and corniced window.

Prominent canted W wing added circa 1880 with ground and 1st

floor cornices, forming a segmental arch over 1st floor triple

arched and keystoned window. Parapet.

Piended slate roofs, timber finial at W wing. Windows sash

and case, later 19th century 2-pane glazing pattern.

INTERIOR: subdivided. Ornate woodwork to W wing. Bud stained

glass at 1st and to W stair.

Rubble-built boundary walls. Chamfered gatepiers, 1 missing.
