Description

Probably George Mathewson circa 1850. 2-storey, 2-by-3-bay,
detached villa. Coursed rubble with unusual ashlar details.
S elevation: advanced centre gable on pilaster strips
encloses garden shelter at ground floor, balcony and bipartite
above. Flanking ground floor pilastered windows with dentil
cornices, 1st floor windows in architraves Bracketted eaves.
Advanced centre gable in N elevation plain.
W elevation double pilastered entrance and ground floor
bipartite.Plain E elevation. Pilastered gable end stacks.
Bracketted eaves, slate roof and modern dormers.
Sash and case windows, some with lying panes.
High rubble-built boundary walls.
INTERIOR: unusual layout with narrow passage to central
hall and stair. Good and unusual plaster cornice with
coffers and pendants in 2 principal rooms.
